Animals
Every animal I have caught or seen in the index, grouped by zone. Each zone's list runs from common catches to the rarest. Income depends on the species first, then the mutation and size, so a plain animal from a new zone usually beats a fancy one from the zone before.
Forest(9)
Frog
The first animal almost every account catches. The starter carrot lands a few metres in front of the line and a frog hops out to eat it.
Rabbit
A common Forest catch on Apple throws. Slightly better than the Frog, and the Gold version is the first mutation many players see.
Owl
A small brown owl that shows up on short Apple and Banana throws. Gold Owls are frequent because the Forest pool is so small.
Snail
Slow little Forest filler worth almost nothing from throws. The Snail matters mostly because the Rainbow Egg can hatch it as a Gigantic Rainbow Snail.
Quacker
The Forest's duck. Lands near the Savannah border, so it often comes with a small luck bonus.
Kookaburra
An Australian bird near the back of the Forest. Usually your second or third animal; a Gold Kookaburra on the first Apple throw is common.
Badger
The best regular Forest earner after the Cow. The tutorial Gold Badger at $18/s is the first animal that makes the Frog look silly.
Cow
A big spotted cow near the far edge of the Forest. Second-best regular Forest animal; Gold Cows show up often on Banana throws.
Pony
RARESTThe rarest Forest animal and the best one: $25/s plain. It lives on the very back edge of the Forest, so a Banana at 18–20 power is the easiest way to pull one.
Savannah(6)
Giraffe
The commonest Savannah animal and usually the first thing your Toast catches. Low income for the zone, but still six times a Pony.
Hyena
Also the free animal in the shop – claim it after joining the group and it out-earns your whole Forest base on day one.
Zebra
The standard mid-Savannah catch on Toast and Orange throws. Fills your first ten slots quickly.
Ostrich
Lives right on the Savannah/Desert border, so it is easy to overshoot. Best known as one of the Rainbow Egg's Gigantic Rainbow pulls.
Elephant
The biggest Savannah animal by model size and the second-best earner. Big Elephants are common on Orange throws.
Lion
RARESTThe rarest Savannah animal and its best earner at $1K/s. It sits near the far edge, so an Orange thrown at 19–20 power gives the best chance.
Desert(9)
Hamster
The commonest Desert animal. The first Orange that crosses the Savannah usually lands one.
Vulture
A Desert bird that is easy to mistake for a Camel while it walks in. Twice a Hamster, and a solid early filler.
Emu
The typical first Pear catch. It is the moment the game starts to feel fast – $4.5K/s on a single animal.
Snake
A cobra that slithers in instead of running. $7.5K/s is the usual 'new best' right before you buy Cheese.
Camel
The hardest regular Desert animal to land for the index – it hides between the Snake and Jackal spots. Keep throwing Pears at reduced strength if it is the last Desert entry you need.
Dingo
A wild dog from the back half of the Desert. Gold and Big Dingos are frequent Cheese results.
Jackal
Third-best Desert animal. Shows up deep in the Desert on Cheese throws.
Horse
Second-rarest Desert animal – basically a big Pony. Cheese at full power lands it reliably.
Kangaroo
RARESTThe rarest Desert animal and the best you can catch before the Jungle. The catch card text turns purple when it lands.
Jungle(7)
Bat
The commonest Jungle animal – a fruit bat. The first full-power Cheese that crosses the Desert almost always brings a Bat.
Parrot
A colourful Jungle bird. Emerald Parrots are a famous early Super Lucky result at $900K/s.
Iguana
A small lizard that is easy to miss for the index. It shows up rarely on Bread throws in the first half of the Jungle.
Koala
The Bread Loaf staple: most Bread throws into the Jungle come back with a $300K Koala.
Crocodile
Lives by the Jungle river. The first $1M/s animal most players own.
Tiger
2ndThe second-rarest Jungle animal. It looks like it should top the index, but the Gorilla does.
Gorilla
RARESTThe rarest Jungle animal. Its catch camera starts very high up because the model is enormous – if the view looks down from the trees, it is probably a Gorilla.
Ocean(9)
Crab
The worst Ocean animal, but your first Croissant often lands it – and $2M+/s is still a big jump from the Jungle.
Turtle
A sea turtle from the shallow part of the Ocean. Cute, common and quickly replaced.
Jellyfish
A pink jellyfish. One of the most common Croissant catches.
Goblin Shark
The long-nosed deep shark. Small model, decent money.
Seahorse
The usual first catch once your Croissant reaches the middle of the Ocean. Fill empty slots with these.
Shark
A regular shark from the deeper part of the Ocean, next to the Mantis Shrimp spot.
Mantis Shrimp
Back-half Ocean catch on Chocolate. Gold Mantis Shrimp are common.
Leafy Sea Dragon
2ndThe second-rarest Ocean animal. A thin, leafy seahorse cousin – surprisingly small for its rank.
Seal
RARESTThe rarest Ocean animal, found at the far edge of the water on Chocolate throws.
Mountains(7)
Llama
The commonest animal on the lower slopes. An Emerald Llama is the classic 'lucky but not useful' Mountains roll.
Capybara
Fan favourite. The first Mushroom usually brings a $500M/s Capybara.
Thunderbird
A storm bird with a long name card. Strong for the zone, and Emerald Thunderbirds are a common Super Lucky result.
Bull
A big buffalo-style bull. Shows Legendary on its card.
Yak
A Legendary yak from the back of the Mountains. A plain Yak earns a bit less than a plain Griffin, but a Gold Yak beats a Gold Griffin.
Honey Badger
A small black-and-white badger that is easy to mistake for a skunk or a squirrel. It lands between the Mountains and the Taiga and is one of the most-missed index entries in this part of the map.
Griffin
RARESTThe rarest Mountains animal and the best on the slopes. It flies in to eat the food – watch the sky.
Taiga(5)
Cockatrice
A rooster-dragon that greets most Bacon throws once they pass the Mountains.
Caracal
A tufted wild cat. The usual first Taiga animal at about 1,000 power with Bacon.
Wolf
The most common Burger catch. Big and Diamond Wolves turn up constantly.
Kitsune
A Legendary fox spirit from the back of the Taiga. Two in a row from Burger throws is normal.
Fenrir
RARESTThe rarest Taiga animal – a giant wolf and the first animal to cross $100B/s. Shank thrown into the far Taiga is the way to farm it.
Winter(8)
Husky
A sled dog right at the start of the snow. The weakest Winter animal.
Goat
A mountain goat on the snowfields. A Big Goat is often your first trillion-per-second animal.
Walrus
A tusked walrus on the icy shore of the Winter zone. Rare to land and easy to miss for the index.
Tanuki
A raccoon-dog in a little outfit, common on Fillet throws into Winter.
Polar Bear
The animal everyone expects in Winter. Size rolls are what make it special – a Gigantic one covers your base.
Mammoth
A shaggy mammoth from the back of the snowfield. Not the same animal as the Halloween Egg's Woolly Mammoth.
Caladrius
A white mythical bird from the back of the Winter zone. Big for a bird and one of the best Winter earners.
Saber-tooth Tiger
RARESTThe rarest Winter animal. Steak thrown at full power lands it on the far edge of the snow.
Prehistoric Forest(8)
Pterodactyl
The flyer of the dinosaur zone and its weakest animal.
Triceratops
Three horns, very common. Your first Steak past Winter usually lands one.
Gallimimus
A fast ostrich-like dinosaur from the first half of the zone.
Dimetrodon
The sail-backed lizard. Low and long, so it is easy to confuse with a T-Rex in the catch camera.
Brachiosaurus
The long-neck. Big Brachiosaurus rolls sit around $100T/s.
Spinosaurus
The sail-backed predator from the back of the zone. A Big Spinosaurus is often your first $100T+/s animal.
T-Rex
2ndHuge, loud – and only the second-rarest. The Velociraptor tops the Prehistoric index.
Velociraptor
RARESTThe rarest Prehistoric animal. Golden Apples thrown into the far end of the zone are the way to farm it.
Deep Waters(7)
Swordfish
First Deep Waters catch for most players. Already worth more than any dinosaur.
Anglerfish
The glowing-lure fish of the deep. Same tier as the Swordfish.
Whale
The first quadrillion-per-second animal. Huge Whales are a big early Deep Waters upgrade.
Megalodon
The prehistoric shark. Diamond Megalodons at $6Qa/s are a common Golden Apple result.
Mosasaurus
A giant marine lizard from the back of the Deep Waters.
Kraken
A tentacled sea monster from the back of the Deep Waters.
Plesiosaur
RARESTThe rarest Deep Waters animal – a long-necked sea reptile. Even a Large one is only 1 in 500K, so with good luck it comes quickly.
Hell(4)
Gargoyle
A stone bat-winged gargoyle. Common, but size rolls make it shine.
Imp
The Winged Imp – the commonest Hell catch. Expect a lot of them before anything else shows up.
Hellhound
A fiery dog from the middle of Hell. Less common than Imps; land it with Lava Steak at reduced strength if the index is your goal.
Cerberus
RARESTThe three-headed rarest animal of Hell. A Large Diamond Cerberus is a 1 in 500K roll.
Ancient Ruins(4)
Microraptor
A tiny feathered raptor. Usually the first Ruins animal at about 2,500 power.
Leviathan
A sea serpent coiled in the flooded part of the Ruins. Often the best animal on a newly arrived base.
Sphinx
The best non-rare Ruins animal. Size rolls on the Sphinx are some of the best value in this part of the map.
Hydra
RARESTThe many-headed rarest animal of the Ancient Ruins.
Mythical Paradise(6)
Raiju
A lightning beast and the first Paradise catch for most players. Fill your base with these when you arrive.
Pegasus

Wyvern
A two-legged dragon from the back of Paradise.
Simurgh
A giant mythical bird from the back half of Paradise.
Phoenix
RARESTThe rarest animal in Mythical Paradise and the face of the game icon. Almost everything in Paradise has wings, so check the index card to be sure you caught it.
Shadow Realm(7)
Black Cat
The commonest Shadow Realm animal. Expect a lot of plain Black Cats before anything else lands.
Cursed Raven
A dark raven and the first Dragon Apple catch for many players. Not the same animal as the Harvest Fields Raven.
Cursed Owl
A ghostly owl from the middle of the Shadow Realm.
Cursed Crow
A big shadow crow from the back half of the realm. Big rolls are among the best Shadow Realm earners.
Shadow Wolf
A black wolf from the back of the realm. Lands even at reduced throw strength once you can reach the zone.
Shadow Demon
A huge winged demon from the back of the Shadow Realm.
Nightmare
RARESTThe rarest Shadow Realm animal – a horned black horse.
Harvest Fields(7)
Raven
The standard first Golden Corn catch. A plain Raven is already worth more than anything from the Shadow Realm.
Scarecrow
A scythe-wielding scarecrow from the middle of the fields.
Zombie Crow
A rotting crow with glowing eyes. Strong rolls make it one of the best Harvest animals for its rarity.
Witch Cat
A black cat in a witch hat. Better than the Scarecrow, weaker than the Pumpkin Golem.
Jack-o'-Lantern
A walking carved pumpkin from the back of the fields. Caramel Apples land it often.
Pumpkin Golem
A hulking golem made of pumpkins from the back of the fields.
Headless Horseman
RARESTThe rarest Harvest Fields animal. Finishing the Harvest index usually comes down to this one.

Rad Scarecrow
A radioactive version of the Harvest Fields scarecrow. Gigantic rolls are huge.
Isotope Angel
A glowing angel from the back of the Wasteland.
Meltdown Idol
2ndThe second-rarest Wasteland animal. Easy to confuse with the Waste Harvester when both come out Rainbow Titanic.
Waste Harvester
RARESTThe rarest animal in the newest zone and the best animal in the game right now. A plain one is only about 1 in 3,000–5,000 with good luck; the size rolls are where it gets absurd.
