Where to catch the Sphinx
The Sphinx lives in Ancient Ruins (zone 12 of 17), around the middle of the zone. It is number 3 of 4 in the Ancient Ruins index. A full-strength throw needs roughly 2,450 – 2,800 Throw Power to land in Ancient Ruins.
Foods that land here: Lava Steak ($120Qi), Elder Strawberry (700 Qi). A higher-tier food pushes the roll toward the rarer end of the Ancient Ruins list, so the newest food you own is always the best bait.
Any throw that lands around the middle of the zone can produce it. If you are hunting it for the index, lower your throw strength with the gear icon until the food lands on that spot – distance inside a zone decides which animals can come.
Is it worth keeping?
- A plain Sphinx earns 100x a plain Imp, the best animal from Hell.
- The first animal in Mythical Paradise, the Raiju, makes 3x as much – once your throws reach Mythical Paradise, replace it.
- Keep it longer only if it rolled a strong mutation or size (see the table below) or you need it for the index.
Sphinx income by mutation and size
A plain Sphinx makes $5Qi/s. Mutations and sizes multiply that number, and the two stack. The table below multiplies the plain income by the multipliers I have measured (Gold ×1.5, Diamond ×3, Emerald ×5, Ruby ×10, Rainbow ×20; Big ×2, Large ≈×4.3, Huge ≈×9, Colossal ≈×18.5, Gigantic ≈×37). Treat the size columns as estimates – real catches land a little above or below. With the 2x Cash gamepass every number doubles.
| Mutation \ Size | Normal×1 | Big×2 | Large×4.3 | Huge×9 | Colossal×18.5 | Gigantic×37 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Normal×1 | $5Qi | $10Qi | $21.5Qi | $45Qi | $92.5Qi | $185Qi |
| Gold×1.5 | $7.5Qi | $15Qi | $32.3Qi | $67.5Qi | $139Qi | $278Qi |
| Diamond×3 | $15Qi | $30Qi | $64.5Qi | $135Qi | $278Qi | $555Qi |
| Emerald×5 | $25Qi | $50Qi | $108Qi | $225Qi | $463Qi | $925Qi |
| Ruby×10 | $50Qi | $100Qi | $215Qi | $450Qi | $925Qi | $1.85Sx |
| Rainbow×20 | $100Qi | $200Qi | $430Qi | $900Qi | $1.85Sx | $3.7Sx |
Sphinx catches I've recorded
Real catch cards. Odds are the “1 in …” number the card shows, which already includes the luck of that throw.
| Variant | Odds | Income |
|---|---|---|
| Big | — | $9.96Qi – $11Qi/s |
| Colossal | — | $88.9Qi/s |
